In the remaining
three courses, we will be assuming the role of users who work for various types of companies. Each company has its own unique problems that need to be addressed and solved with SAS Data Studio and SAS Visual Analytics. These problems vary between restructuring data and applying analytics, creating columns and advanced filters, and making reports more dynamic by putting control into the hands of the report viewers. First, we will examine the data shape needed for each of the analytics objects (geo map, forecasting, network analysis, path analysis, and text analytics). Then, we'll use SAS Data Studio to restructure our data to meet these requirements and create the analysis in Visual Analytics. Next, we'll create new data items for some existing reports. We'll see how to create numeric, character, and date calculated items, along with basic aggregated measures, periodic aggregated measures, and advanced aggregated measures. Then, we'll create and apply advanced filters. We'll add static filters, post-aggregate filters, advanced ranks, automatic actions, and interactive filters. Finally, we'll use parameters to make our reports more dynamic. Parameters are values viewers can set to change their view of the report. Parameters can be applied to calculated items, display rules, filters, or ranks. They enable viewers to see what they want, when they want to see it, without having to ask a report builder to change the report for them.
