[MUSIC] So hello, everybody. We are in Portland, Oregon with yet another installment of the Office Hours. We have two in, wait, where? >> Oregon. >> What did I say? >> Oregon. I just, well sorry. At least I'm in the right state. >> [LAUGH] >> Oregon? >> Oregon. >> Portland Oregon, like in. Okay, so Portland Oregon at a very busy street, and we had yet another successful office hours here. And I want, as usual, to meet the rest of the folks in the class. So, here we go. So just say hi, your name and anything you want to say to the rest of the class. >> Yeah, hi. My name is Armen. I signed up for several online courses and this Python course is the first one I ever completed. All four parts of it. >> Me too. >> Thanks to the great instructor. >> [LAUGH] >> [LAUGH] >> Hi, there. >> Hi, my name is Scott. And I'm in course two for Python Informatics. >> Okay. Hi. >> Hi my name is Aleo Razer and I'm just seeing Dr. Trunk more than I see my child in the past four months. >> Sounds like you work very hard. >> Yeah. I just finished Python, I had data access infrastructure and very good job. >> Well, welcome to CORS. Welcome to CORS. >> Hi my name is Paul and I have a 17 year old son whose name is also Paul and we're using Coursera to learn Python together as a father son project. >> So, is he a high school student? >> He is a high school student, and he's doing very well. So for me it's a hobby, and for him it's to gain some skills that he can use later in life. >> Yeah, my dream is for this to eventually be in every high school. That's what I want but it's a hard thing. >> It's a hard thing to do. >> Yeah. >> But it's in our home. >> Good. >> Hey, I'm Maddie, I'm an Organismo Bio Major from Pencer College, but I'm here to learn Python. >> Thank you. >> Hi, I'm Margaret and I'm actually vacationing here from Tennessee. And Python was the introduction to programming that I've always been meaning to do. >> Great. >> I am Diane. I'm in the fourth class of the series, and I'll be doing Picasso in the summer, and- >> Cool. >> It's fun, fun, fun. >> Yeah, Capstone's the easiest class of all. >> Good. >> Don't tell anybody that. >> [LAUGH] >> Hi, I'm Alejandro, I took the amazing Internet history class a few years ago when I live in Havana, Cuba. >> Where'd you live? >> Havana, Cuba. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Excellent. >> So to go to for amazing class. >> Cool. >> Hi, my name's Andrew. I got into Coursera with my co-worker Nathan, who could not be here today, because he was working. >> Well. >> [LAUGH] >> [CROSSTALK] But Nathan's kind of sort of photobombing virtually now. >> Yeah, he's virtually photobombing, so. >> Do you have a picture of Nathan? >> No, I don't. >> That'd be cool. You could put him up and [CROSSTALK]. >> It was right next to my heart, but I left it at work. >> Yeah, yeah. >> Thanks to Dr. Chuck for all the great work he's put in. >> Cool. >> Hi. I'm Herb. I took internet history technology and security a long, long time ago, and then became a teaching as community teaching assistant and now I'm a mentor. And I've been with CORS for a long time and really enjoy helping students. >> So, Herb is one of less than ten mentors, okay, you can film, you can film. So, Herb is one of less than ten mentors. Works ceaselessly to help all the students, and gets paid absolutely nothing. And so, one of the things I like to do, is come to cities where the mentors live and buy them dinner. That's a small compensation for three years of hard work, is one free meal, is what you get for that. But without mentors like Herb, these classes really would not be alive. And they'd be asleep, and the best lecture videos, and the best assignments, and the best quizzes, do absolutely nothing without human beings. because this is a, learning's a human thing. It's not Information, it's a human thing. And people like Herb keep these things alive even when I'm long gone, after their lectures are all done, etc., etc., etc. Thank you Herb. So, let's get a round of applause for the awesome Herb. >> [APPLAUSE] >> Okay, we got a random. Yeah. We got random people that like Herb. Of course. >> I am Maureen. I'm a chemist. And basically, I took this class so that I could pull data in an automated fashion and create graphs every week and not do it manually in Excel. >> Cool, so okay, so here we are. That's it and the next office hours is less than 24 hours from now. Seattle and after that and you're all invited to the office hours after that in Lexie Park, England. If you're going to England for vacation you can come to office hours. Cheers. [MUSIC]
