Nobody likes to hear somebody tell you how they're going to change society when they don't themselves appear to live by the principles that they are upholding. Nobody likes to be in that position of having to listen to somebody telling you how their project benefits the well-being of people on the other side of the planet when they themselves are suffering ill-being and stress. Let's be honest: under these conditions most people hear the general idea but don't necessarily listen and quickly become very critical, which often leads the project leader to enter into a process of argument and persuasion that consumes an inordinate amount of their time and resources without really guaranteeing them that people will give their commitment and energy in the end. Now, what we dramatically need when we embark on the path of an entrepreneur of change is other people's energy, people's energy. For a number of years, my work has consisted of supporting groups and project leaders to enable them to be the best possible version of themselves, a version that brings what they think, say, feel and do into
alignment. I am Ucka-Ludovic Ilolo, a business choreographer and movement coach. I am one of the three coaches and co-designers of the Tickets for Change tour, along with Aymeric Marmorat and
Stéphane Riot. And my belief is that it is not through persuasion that you get others to invest their energy in our projects, but rather by being so rooted in, so occupied by the aim that you are striving towards, that you influence and inspire others to get on board. Throughout this MOOC, I will be giving you physical tools and tips to help you learn various concepts and physically embody your intentions. Let us begin with the 5 golden rules that you must tell yourself when you get up in the morning: 1 - the mind and body are not separate, and to think, you need your own physical experience of things, to make sense of your actions, you need your brain, they're one and the same thing. 2 - daily practice enables you to become aware of this mind-body connection and take better control of it. 3 - You must embody the change that you want to see take place in the outside world, said Gandhi, and that embodiment is through the daily movements that you make with your body in the here and now. You have a body: Good for You. Number 4: celebrate it, love it, if you are at war with it, make peace and take care of it. In the end, your ability to go from intention to fulfilment will always be shaped by your ability to take action. 5 - create your own rituals, carve small personal moments for yourself or as a group, to remind yourself of the 4 previous points where
need be and quickly reconnect your body and mind. At the launch night for the Ticket for Change tour in Paris, the participants did not know one another, they were both excited yet anxious and intimidated, and we gathered them together in front of the audience and asked people in the room to spur them on by radiating energy and making a gesture, shouting out "Oh Ah" together! This was a great strength for the people receiving it and has become a ritual that we have repeated every time that we have needed to reconnect, either individually or as a group. What they learnt with that was in particular how to
receive. So here is a ritual that works well individually to embody the 5 principles that I have just listed. Stand up, feet apart, a little wider than your shoulders, pull your arms in as tightly as possible, like this, and gradually spread them until they are spread as widely as possible. Once you are in this position, tell yourself that there is the same distance from one hand to the other as from your hand to the ground,
this is how much of you there is. Breathe in and appreciate this feeling of being huge, take time to take it in and tell yourself, I give this much, I receive this much. For 2 seconds like this, take time to breathe, and use this simple ritual whenever you want to get started on something, whenever you need energy and to remind yourself that you are not just a brain, but also and above all a full human being.
