[MUSIC] Welcome back. In this screen cast, we'll be continuing to develop the three sheets we created in our previous lesson. However, in this lesson we will focus on setting up the story. But we will start where we left off. Now let's go ahead. So we have three sheets that we created in a previous screen cast. Before moving on, I'm going to rename these Customer profit, Customer Discount and Customers by State. Let's change the title. I click on the current title, so it's Customer Ranking, and a dialog box appears that allows us to edit title. Now I'm going to go to Insert, which is on the right hand side of the dialogue here. Click on that, look for the worksheet name, which is towards the top. And then hit OK, and then you could do that for the other two, Customer Ranking. Again, you delete the Customer Ranking, hit Insert, then worksheet name and then do that for Customer Profit as well. Let's move to the States tab, which is called Customers by State. And we can navigate around here but what I have is, the State field is before the category field. So at each state it shows a particular category, which I think is a nice way to show the information. And so we're actually going to make some modifications here to the formatting, and we're going to do the. We're going to address it in the tool tip. So you click on the tool tip, and I'm going to add in a value, which is average discount. I just typed in Avg Discount. And then I go to Insert, and I scroll down to AVG(Discount). And I will click on AVG(Discount) and insert that and hit OK. And hover over and see that we have it. I also drag Sum Of Sales away. So, this is illustrative, because when I drag the Sum of Sales away, I think it's a bug in Tableau. But on my version of Tableau, if I drag it away, it puts in this Calculation1 business which it shouldn't do, it should just drag it away. So then I have to drag away the Calculation1 instead which is highly annoying and then I delete the formula. So there we have a little bit more of a more useful tool tip, for now. To create a Dashboard, all you do is you just click on the Create Dashboard at the bottom right, next to Create Worksheet. Very simple. I want you to also go to the Objects on the bottom left hand side and ensure that you're clicking on Floating as the floating object. And once you've done that, I would like you to drag in Customers by State and drop it into the dashboard like so. And I'm just doing some minor formatting here. Although the formatting is minor, it is essential to do the formatting. And then the other ones will also go in the dash board. And what I'm going to do is, I stayed, I'm going to have this in the second dashboard. And that's somewhat arbitrary mainly because I didn't want to spend a lot of time getting it all in one dashboard. So the Customer by State, I'm actually putting it in a separate dashboard from the other ones which is Customer Profit and Customer Discounts. We'll rename this dashboard Customer State Data. We'll then do another dashboard as I just was saying. Click on the other dashboard, new dashboard, and add those two. Again, a lot of this stuff that you're seeing is just very small tweaks. You may be doing different tweaks than I'm doing because now you really are familiar with this stuff, so you do what you need to do to get yours in the right shape. I'm doing what I need to do to get mine in the right shape. And it should look roughly the same, it may look slightly different and that's okay. The idea, though, is to get a sense of how we assemble a dashboard in order to get it into a form that's a story. And so I'm renaming this Discounts and Profits. Now let's not ignore the important thing of including all of the information. And so that is actually essential too, so I'm going to create another dashboard. And we actually did this before, drag the customer scatter plot over to the dashboard area. And then drag customer rank as well to the right hand side And then, I'm going to eliminate the legend. It's pretty intuitive. And then I'm going to rename this dashboard as All Customers, pretty straightforward there. This is actually similar to what you already did. So here we see this, and then when I hover it doesn't really give me any Information of the scatter plot or vice versa, so I really need to do those actions. So what I'm going to do now is I am going to first, I'm going to go ahead and do the story. And the reason I'm going to go ahead and do the story before the actions, is that I really want to get it assembled, and then as I'm assembling it, I go back to the story and see if it makes sense, right? So all those pieces get in and it's like, you know what, I need to make this change or that change. And then I can go back to the story and see if that change has an impact in improving readability. Before we go on, have a look at where my mouse is and cursor. At the bottom left, you'll see that I have selected the option here to change the size of the story from a fixed size and what I'm going to do is I'm going to change it to automatic. So If it's not already that way, change it from fixed size to automatic, so that it doesn't matter how it's going to look on your computer, you don't have to adjust for the computer size there. Like this. The next step is to drag the dashboard, and that's the key, is to drag the dashboard we just created. And so, the All Customers dashboard, which happens to be the last one listed on my screen, gets dragged into the story. And then you can see what happens there. Voila, there it is, our first story point has been placed in the story board. There is very little formatting that you can actually do in the story itself. All of the formatting must be done in the dashboard or the worksheet and then the final product just gets dropped into the story, okay. So, I want to just reiterate that. All of the information, all of the changes, all of the effects, all of the actions, all of the filtering etc. Needs to be done before or in the dashboard or in the worksheet and not in the story itself. You have to actually go to the dashboard to make those changes. Let's create another story. And we just simply click on New Blank Point. That generates another story. Then, we take the Discounts and Profits dashboard that we created earlier. And you just click it and drag it to the drag sheet, and there it is. And then I'm going to go back up to the New Blank Point, click on that, and drop the customer state data into there. So now I have a three-prong story, and I'm going to just rename this, you can rename it again, anything you want. I'm going to call it a pattern of losses. And then I'm going to just drag it over a little bit, so that it's visible. Each caption, I double-click on that and then type in any information that I want there. And I'm doing All Customers in the first tab, then, having trouble typing there. Select Customers, Profit and discounts. And then double click on the third caption. And type in, again, typing issues there, but managing. Select Customers by State. So we have three tabs. Three points of interest in our data. Now here we go. Do you see this? What I'm doing here on the screen is I'm going to dashboard. I'm going to the All Customers one by the way. Selecting Dashboard. Then down to Actions, and I'm going to click on Actions. I'm going to add an action. I'm going to add a filter. We will unselect the Customer scatter plot and then select the Select button. [LAUGH] Just so that you know the run action on, that's the Select option. And then I'm going to go down to the selected field, and at the very bottom, which is the target filters, I'm going to add a filter. And this is going to be simply the customer name from the table. Click OK, and then Click OK again. And I click OK again. And then now when I click on a ranking, only that person shows up. If I do a Ctrl+click, more people will show up. So it allows you to very quickly drill down and see exactly who the people are. And we're going to do that again. We're going to do it the reverse now. We're going to go back up to Dashboard, and then select Actions. Select Add Action. Rename this Select rank to see scatter plot. And then ensure that the Customer scatter plot is deselected and the customer rank is selected. Run action on select is clicked. The target sheet is Customer rank and Customer scatter plot are both checked. And the selected field is on customer name and you know how to do actions now but I'm just going over it with you one more time. Then when you're done with that you can click OK to continue. And then I'm going to add another action. And this is going to be, now I'm going to actually remember to rename it first. Hover over Scatterplot. I'm going to do Hover, and then I'm going to allow it to Hover. And then I want to again do Selected Fields > Add Filter > Customer Name, hit OK and then click OK again, and now I have two filters. Now when I go to the scatter plot. And when I hover over a dot, it will automatically filter the customer ranking on the right. This is really cool, this is the interactivity that I'm going to talk a lot more about in the lesson on interactivity and static. This wraps up our look at setting up a story, we will continue on in the next lesson, see you there.
