It's not, it's hard to imagine that going back to the early 1990s, that David Icke of all people would become one of the most influential conspiracy theorists of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Icke was born in Leicester England in 1952 and he flunked his National Grammar School exams in 1963, headed off for a career in professional soccer. Unfortunately, a bad case of arthritis set in. So Mike went for his next best option, which was sportscasting for BBC radio. That choice worked for him for about a decade and then he started to get bored. So he joined the Green Party. Then he started doing alternative medicine. Then he started hearing voices. Then he started visiting psychics. He started saying he was a Hindu god. He went to Peru and he visited ancient ruins there where he claimed he started feeling divine electrical impulses, started writing a lot of books. And he announced to the world that the world was going to end in 1997. But that was all just a prelude. It seems to the biggest revelation of them all. Princess Diana had been killed. David Icke now proclaimed because she had once seen Queen Elizabeth herself Morphed into a 12 foot tall lizard. And once, Diana saw this. The Icke in conspiracy theory explains. Well, the poor lady just had to go. But here's the thing, I didn't just claim that queen Elizabeth was a lizard lady. He started asserting that the whole world was controlled by shape shifting lizard people. Basically the argument went as follows, and pay close attention because this is complicated eons ago, shape shifting lizard aliens came to earth. They may have come from the constellation Draco he writes, or they may have come from hollow earth. There is a belief out there among some people that the earth is hollow and occupied by mysterious beings. They being extraterrestrial aliens in some versions of this theory. But in his book, the biggest secret, I concluded that, and I quote. It is from another dimension, the lower fourth dimension, that the reptilian control and manipulation is primarily orchestrated. Without understanding the multidimensional nature of life in the universe it is impossible to follow the manipulation of the earth by a non human force. Has open minded scientists are now confirming creation consists of an infinite number of frequencies or dimensions of life sharing the same space in the same way that radio and television frequencies do. At the moment, you are tuned to the three dimensional world or third dimension. And so that is what you perceive as your reality. You are tuned to this station in other words. Once here the lizards began interbreeding with human beings and created a shape shifting race of lizard creatures who live off human flesh and blood and rule the planet. Among the shape shifters were George HW Bush and our queen Elizabeth, who apparently are all part of a secret reptilian bloodline called the black nobility. Just to give you a taste of how crazy this blather gets. I read the following from his book, the biggest secret quote. The marrow of Indian king Clovis had the iris as his royal emblem, a flower which grows wild in the Middle East. It is also known as a three pronged lily and it was used to symbolize Nimrod or rather the reptilian bloodline of Nimrod. In Latin it means small sword and it became the symbol of the royal bloodline of what is now France. And this was because in ancient Sumer the reptilian bloodline as passed on through the female was symbolized by lily. Hence the main reptilian gene carriers were given names like Lilith, Lily, Lily too and let another version is Lilybeth or Elizabeth. And this is why the president British queen is called Elizabeth, l lizard birth and was known to her family circles as Lilybeth. She is a major reptilian gene carrier who reduced a major reptilian full blood called Prince Charles. Princess Diana knew this. Icke explained writing, quote. It is not without reason to Diana, Princess of Wales used to call the wizards the lizards and the reptiles and said in all seriousness, they're not human. This was told to me by a close confident of Diana for nine years, whom I quote at length later in the book. In fact Icke explains the tunnel in which Diana died was an ancient sacred place quote. Princess Diana was killed on an ancient marrow of Indian sacrificial site to the goddess Diana when her car struck the 13th pillar. And he concludes, do we really believe that this Windsor intelligence agency network which was planning an armed coop in Britain, would not conspire to kill Diana, princess of Wales when she threatened their power. Come on. What I've outlined in this chapter is a mere fraction of what there is to tell about the Windsors, the black nobility. Fascist reptilian family, which operate from Buckingham Palace London on behalf of the global network of the reptilian brotherhood. Now, at this point, you are within reason to wonder out loud, who on earth would believe this year lunacy? Well, In 2013, the Public Policy Poll did a national survey, PPP as it's called, surveyed 1,247 registered American voters from March 27 to the 30th and asked a variety of interesting questions. These included, do extraterrestrial aliens exist? 29% of voters said yes. Does bigfoot exist? 14% of voters said yes. Do Lizard people control our society? 4% said yes. Now let's crunch that last percentage. There are 153 million registered voters in 2012, so that's around six million people, six million people believing that lizard people control our society. So how do we explain that? Well, I think that IK is very good at weaving into his lunatic French idea as a wide variety of new age beliefs. Drawing lots of stuff from Hinduism and Buddhism, the Jesus bloodline knights of templar mythology stuff and all kinds of other weirdness, like hollow earth beliefs. We've talked about that a little earlier and anti institutional Christianity, pagan beliefs. He's really good at borrowing that kind of stuff and repackaging it in his writings and suggesting that we are on the cusp of a new age arriving finally or something like that. A lot of apocryphal utopian stuff in his writings. But I think that what really draws folks to guys like Icke is the enormous chasm between ordinary people and the people who actually run society in the corporate sector and the government sector. And even in the educational sector, as economic and social inequality continues to grow and grow. So far away. So far removed are millions of people from the decision making processes that affect their lives that believing in David Icke's bizarre meta theories in no way interferes with their day to day existence. And makes it a lot more interesting in some ways. For millions of people in the USA and elsewhere, there are no immediate consequences for their embracing these fantasy beliefs. Whether they believe that their nation is run by something called the United States Government or that it is run by the black nobility of lizards. Their lives will go on with them feeling mostly powerless over the course of events in that context. The black nobility of lizards makes more sense. By 1997 long before Donald Trump or Q and on or the 9 11 conspiracy theories, we had already become a world addicted to conspiracy theory driven media. Indeed, that culture had been evolving for decades. I think that it could be argued that by the late 1990s, what Richard Hofstadter described as the paranoid style had evolved or devolved, so to speak, into the paranoid lifestyle. And nobody exemplifies that lifestyle in my opinion better than David Icke.
