As we move along in the contemporary moment of Aboriginal education in Canada,
there are a few resources I want you to check out to understand the ways that we
might bring some of the traditional ways of teaching and learning into
contemporary classrooms. And one of the ways is Dr Pamela Toulouse
at Laurentian University, is integrating aboriginal teaching and values into the
classroom. So please have a look at this, this short
summary of how she's bringing in the ethics of the Seven Sacred Teachings or
the Seven Grandfathers' Teachings of the Anishinaabe into classroom teaching for
all learners. And then also take a look at the
standards that have been developed for Alaska's culturally responsive schools.
The site is actually quite large and there's a lot of resources on it, but I
wanted to draw your attention particularly to these Alaska standards
for culturally responsive schools. So take a look at those.
And finally in a, in a broader community learning sense the work of Leanne Simpson
is, is instructive, so take a look at this this article that she wrote called
Indigenous Environment Education for Cultural Survival, and you can see how we
can bring some of the teachings into our everyday practices and learning.
And then discuss on the forum, it's very busy on the forum, but please add your
voice. Thank you.
