I liked and enjoyed everything about this course from Dr. Ann Masten. Class sessions were focused on a single topic, brief and packed with information. Supplemental readings enhanced the class sessions with real examples, interviews, etc.

I really enjoyed the course, especially because I learned a lot. I felt the lecture videos could have been more engaging. Sometimes I got more from the slides than the professor, but also sometimes the slides were so small in the videos. The professor at times seemed to use vague language that left one guessing at more specific meaning. The closed captions often had errors and there were resource links that were broken or missing. Having 5 distractors for the MCQs was also challenging - a quiz should test knowledge, not frustrate and confuse the learner - so four distractors would be better. Last, some resources had no closed captions or transcripts which is not just problematic for people who really needs such aids but also difficult for someone like me who can see but relies a lot on such adaptive aids. The professor is clearly an expert (her journal articles were quite clear in concept compared to her lectures) and also passionate and experienced in her field, so I felt good knowing I was learning from such a person.

Gives a very good overview of resilience and offers a broad spectrum of resources. The lectures are well structred, but a bit lengthy.

Some of the data is outdated and very focused on the US. It would be nice to see some more recent and global examples in an updated version of the course.

Quizzes are kind of confusing, and Id like more assignments to count for grades and less quizzes. Like points for discussions. Or give examples in own life of when you personally had to use resilience.

Good information. The lessons could have been more exciting or engaging. I found it a bit repetitive toward the end and wanted maybe more reflections or discussions to really grasp the course material

I found this course extremely informative. The thorough overview provided of the research that has gone into the science of resilience was fascinating. The concept of adaptive factors and promotive factors for improving ones ability to overcome adversity was valuable because I work with at-risk students. I appreciated the perspectives offered by the guest speakers included in the course as well. However, the discussion forum was only slightly useful and having to take a "final" exam was unnecessary. I found the final exam process infuriating, especially when the questions changed for every retake not providing the option for the process of elimination. Since it's not a course one is getting credit for or to receive a final grade for a college transcript, it shouldn't be an additional requirement for completing a course!

I really enjoy and learned a lot about resilience in this course. Profesor Masten is a well known researcher in this field and know what she is talking. I believe it is a good appetizer for those who aren't sure about what way to go within the psychology, psychiatry, and mental health sciences. I would have loved for this course to have talked more in detail about the treatment and therapies to treat children and how to actually do the treatment; some therapies are mention during the course, but it doesn't really emphasises on any of them. Another reason that I rate this course 4 starts is because I posted a couple of questions about the videos of the course and they were never answered, I felt like if nobody was on the other side.

I appreciate your input. Thank you!

I liked the course in general. It feels a bit plain and basic. However, interviews with researchers of resilience and resilient individuals are particularly interesting, they're probably the best part of this course.

It's good that there are a variety of subtopics per week. However, sometimes some videos are not specific, i.e. sometimes they are more extensive than they could be.

Lots of material. Good instructor. But the course was tad too long. 4 weeks would be ideal

It feels like information is not updated for quite a few years.

Overall, the course has been educational and useful. However, being dated back to 2010, the course needs further thorough revision with regards to the content, presentation style (very old-fashioned videos with the boring slides), home assignments with no feedback, no applicable resources that can be used instantly in the classroom or teacher trainings.

Thank you for the opportunity to learn more about resilience!

Great course and very relevant to our day and age. I just wish that videos were more updated and so were the readings/ resources. I felt that videos are relevant however very old.

I definitively enjoyed it, but I felt it was less relevant to a third work context than I had hoped. If this does not bother you, I recommend it!

I was looking for more practical ways to help the vulnerable children that I work with.

The course was unfortunately slow and repetitive. Many of the videos could have been far more concise and the points were repeated over and over. The last week had interesting points to it but for the most part the whole course could have been done in two equivalent weeks. Rape and sexual trauma was skimmed and trotted around and the course would have been better if it made a point of not speaking about it altogether due to its different nature from other traumas mentioned. Good try but I felt I was forcing myself to watch the videos as there was so little to absorb from them that was not already evident as a self aware human.

I am so glad that I completed this course. I have gained insight on the topic of resilience in children that will help me work with children who have experienced trauma and adversity, especially my desire to volunteer to support newly arrived refugee children from Afghanistan who have resettled in my area. The course modules held my attention throughout, and I was motivated to delve into the subject outside of the required materials. Ann Masten's presentations and interviews were very interesting and informative.
