À propos du cours

This course gives you easy access to the invaluable learning techniques used by experts in art, music, literature, math, science, sports, and many other disciplines. We’ll learn about the how the brain uses two very different learning modes and how it encapsulates (“chunks”) information. We’ll also cover illusions of learning, memory techniques, dealing with procrastination, and best practices shown by research to be most effective in helping you master tough subjects. Using these approaches, no matter what your skill levels in topics you would like to master, you can change your thinking and change your life. If you’re already an expert, this peep under the mental hood will give you ideas for: turbocharging successful learning, including counter-intuitive test-taking tips and insights that will help you make the best use of your time on homework and problem sets. If you’re struggling, you’ll see a structured treasure trove of practical techniques that walk you through what you need to do to get on track. If you’ve ever wanted to become better at anything, this course will help serve as your guide. This course can be taken independent of, concurrent with, or prior to, its companion course, Mindshift. (Learning How to Learn is more learning focused, and Mindshift is more career focused.) It is knowledge about how to learn very nicely brought to you - but it is a little bit to basic in my humble opinion. Still - a great course to take!

I'd expected a little more Techniques. But what was part of the course, was really well selected!

Pretty low level, but has good energy and can give useful all around info. It was lacking in technicality though, it seemed more like a high school lesson than a legit university course.

It is very important that everyone knows this information, because it will make their lives better in a huge variety of ways. As it is a short course, I understand that many of the subjects were covered in a very superficial manner and that it couldn't be helped, but I would've loved that the focus of the lectures were on difficult concepts to grasp, and not merely the simplest of ideas that can be spoken about them. Another thing that I consider should be improved is the utter simplicity of choosing the right answers in the quizzes. I think that anyone could answer those questions correctly without the need of watching the lectures.

The coding sequences very much spoon feed you the solutions. Good for a way to get an initial grasp on these concepts though.

Good start but the material got a little thin in the second half. Would recommend the first 2 weeks to any student

Although this course did have some helpful tips and tricks, I also read the book midway through and found I could of learned the same material through the book. So it really depends on how you learn, if you learn better from books, buy the book. If you learn from projects and quizzes, you should take this course online. Overall solid course and helpful tips.

Worth your time in seeing new things about understanding, how mind works when it is learning, procrastination and memory, etc.

It is okay. The instructors need to practice working in front of a camera. I found that they each came off a little stiff.

This is a good course and I got to learn a few things from it. Even though, I feel the content could have been covered in a lot less time than it took. But I would still recommend the course because of the huge difference it could make in your life. One piece of advise. Consider the weeks as days and complete it within 4 days. That's what I did.
