À propos du cours

This course gives you easy access to the invaluable learning techniques used by experts in art, music, literature, math, science, sports, and many other disciplines. We’ll learn about the how the brain uses two very different learning modes and how it encapsulates (“chunks”) information. We’ll also cover illusions of learning, memory techniques, dealing with procrastination, and best practices shown by research to be most effective in helping you master tough subjects. Using these approaches, no matter what your skill levels in topics you would like to master, you can change your thinking and change your life. If you’re already an expert, this peep under the mental hood will give you ideas for: turbocharging successful learning, including counter-intuitive test-taking tips and insights that will help you make the best use of your time on homework and problem sets. If you’re struggling, you’ll see a structured treasure trove of practical techniques that walk you through what you need to do to get on track. If you’ve ever wanted to become better at anything, this course will help serve as your guide. This course can be taken independent of, concurrent with, or prior to, its companion course, Mindshift. (Learning How to Learn is more learning focused, and Mindshift is more career focused.) There were some useful tips in this course on how to learn or how to tackle a list of tasks. I felt the material was a bit dry and wished there were some more practical examples. Overall I thought it was pretty good.

Lot of theory on working on brain is not required. Could have been supported by other techniques to help learning like pomodoro, metaphorical association etc. Delivery too slow and a little monotonous making student to zone out during lecture.

Everything was clearly explained. It included the most beneficial learning techniques. The interviews with these incredible people could be more useful not just repeating and confirming the course materials.

Really good course! My first with Coursera, and I'm glad I started here.

It does seem to be more aimed at high school or college age people though, which was not clear to me at the start. For that reason, I gave it 4 stars rather than 5. If you are a student in that age bracket, I strongly recommend this course.
