About the Course

The purpose of Electric Vehicles and Mobility is to help you, whatever your profile, your training or your country, find your own answers to questions such as: - Will electric vehicles be the last to be allowed in megalopolises in the 21st century? - Does the environmental gain from vehicle electrification justify heavy investment in charging infrastructure? - Are electric vehicles only for wealthy people in developed countries? This course will allow you to acquire elements from engineering science, sociology, environmental science, political science, economics, management science, in order to evaluate, analyze and implement the diffusion of electric vehicles where their use is relevant. This MOOC is the English version of Mobilités et véhicules électriques; in the lecture videos, the teachers speak in French, nevertheless their presentation is in English and English subtitles are available. Groupe Renault and ParisTech schools have been working together for almost 15 years on topics related to sustainable mobility. Together, they created two Master programs (Transport and Sustainable Development in 2004, Mobility and Electric Vehicles in 2010) and the Sustainable Mobility Institute Renault-ParisTech in 2009, to support ongoing changes. Electric Vehicles and Mobility is the result of this shared history and was developed from a course delivered within the Master Mobility and Electric Vehicles, led by Arts et Métiers ParisTech in partnership with Ensta ParisTech, Mines ParisTech and École des Ponts ParisTech....

Very good introductory course to the electro mobility subject. The course is nicely structured, and gives good overview of the main trends and challenges towards electrification of (urban) transport. The methods videos are also helpful and give the learner some good methodological insights for those interested to know more about how transport policies are made. The mix between socio and economic perspectives on mobility is also good.

However, the course is unfortunately in French, and the translations in english are sometimes very approximative (especially in the quizzes) which lowers the quality of the MOOC. The recommended readings are almost all in French , whereas there is so much to learn from international literature to be considered when talking about sociotechnical transitions and more generally of the mobility transition. Also, all the interviews are from the french electro mobility ecosystem. Whereas i understand the course was sponsored by Renault, it would have also been interesting to hear from interviewees from other countries and contexts, to acquire a more global understanding of the electro mobility phenomenon.

Therefore, to improve (and be rated a 5 stars course) I would suggest a little "internationalization" of the material (have some invited speakers/interviewees from other countries + promotion of international scientific literature on EVs). Otherwise thanks a lot for the course and kudos to the whole team behind the MOOC!

Great course! It gave us, leaners, an overview of the electric vehicles from various points of view, tackling all the subject in an engineering, economical, environmental point of view.

As a mechanical engineer, I prefer having a better understanding of the electric vehicle and all the components and systems, in addition to the design of the electric vehicle. The addition of a technical chapter was sufficient to make this course outstanding.

Finally, I would like to thank you for this great course!

The quality of each lecture is very good. Always showing relevant data to justify certain assumption and to better illustrate an idea. There is almost no technical knowledge during the course, which makes me a bit sad, since that for most topics within electromobility it is difficult to understand without a technical analysis over the fact. Nonetheless, the course is a great bases to understand the importance of electric vehicles in the mobility system and automotive industries around the globe.

A very interesting course although the translation into English in parts made it more difficult to understand. This applies especially to the Assessment Quizzes which are badly formatted as well. The interviews with Renault staff were very interesting as they presented a view that was not always heard before. Overall a good and interesting course.

The course is very good. Turned out to be slightly different from what i thought as it focused more on the environmental and geographical aspects. I thought that a another section dedicated to engineering of EVs would be there but apart from that there it was really good. Also french is not my first language so had to struggle a bit for that.

Very interesting course from a political and economical point of view. It gives you an insight of all the factors to understand the present and future of electrical vehicles.

It would also be interesting to add a chapter about a technical point of view, like which factors would make a battery last longer but it was very resourceful.

The course gives an overall good high level information of the EV and Mobility world. I enrolled to the course without noticing that the course language was French... which i dont know. Another thing is the numbers, datas are old-dated as the course was created 4-5 years ago. So does not provide up-to-date values of todays world.

The course is good to understand the mobility of the electric vehicle and it will be useful when the electric vehicles start to dominate the Automotive world. The course is unfortunately in French, and the translations in English are sometimes very approximative (especially in the quizzes) which lowers the quality of the MOOC.

The course is good to understand the mobility of the electric vehicle and it will be useful when the electric vehicles start to dominate the Automotive world.

The only cons of this course is the presentation as it's in French, wish it was in English too so that it will be helpful for learners all over the world.

A great introduction into the complex world of electric vehicles! Being a native english speaker, it was difficult at times to understand some of the concepts as I imagine a lot of the course was a direct translation from French, so some contexual meeting might have been lost in the process of translation.

Good MOOC from a very renowned French engineering school , little bit old but still very relevant and a very good base to understand the challenges of mobility and EVs. I have not found such good MOOC on any other platforms. And you can chose the option to have a certificate delivered at the end.

The content is very high quality and well structured. I learned a lot. But the mix of French and English courses is a bit confusing. In particular, the wording of the assessment questions is a bit strange, potentially due to translation issues between French and English.

It's one of the best beginners' courses, which gives an in-depth in electric vehicles. The economic, social and industrial impacts are very well, explained. I recommend this course to anyone who is purely a beginner in the domain of electric vehicles.

Very good overview on Electric Mobility both at technical level as well as on policy required to promote EVs. Only challenge would be to comprehend the videos which is only in French (most of the course videos). Would recommend to take it.

ce cours donne une bonne culture generale les VE et la mobilité mais il commence à dater un peu... il faut dire que le monde des VE et de nouvelles solutions de mobilité a évolué rapidement depuis le lancement de la formation

From economy balance to environmental perspective, this course provides me a definition of electrical mobility and mobility. As electrical engineer, further analysis beside technical knowledge is considerably important.

Formation intéressante par son ouverture sur une multitude de sujet liés à la mobilité et au véhicule électrique. Elle mériterait une mise à jour car beaucoup de chiffres et d'information sont désormais dépassées.
