About the Course

Get started with using Agile Development and Scrum with this self-paced introductory course! After successfully completing this course, you will be able to embrace the Agile concepts of adaptive planning, iterative development, and continuous improvement - resulting in early deliveries and value to customers. You will look at Scrum as a framework and learn how to apply it alongside Agile. You will also become familiar with related methodologies like Waterfall, Extreme Programming (XP), and Kanban. Apply Agile practices derived from lean manufacturing concepts, like test-driven development. Learn how a scrum team functions. Also learn about the importance of Agile iterative planning and enable yourself to write good user stories and track your team’s progress using a kanban board. Create and refine a product backlog collaboratively with the team and the customer, in a flexible and blameless culture. You'll also learn how to use burndown charts, achieve sprint goals, and conduct the sprint review and retrospective. This approach will lead you to higher levels of efficiency, with the ability to plan and execute sprints with your development team, measuring success with actionable metrics. This course is about more than facts and processes. It is about working collaboratively on a self-organizing team, coached by a scrum master, and building what is needed, rather than simply following a plan. Developed and taught by an experienced Agile practitioner, the course includes hands-on practice through realistic scenario-based labs using GitHub and ZenHub. The course will benefit anyone who wants to get started with working the Agile way or transform the organizational culture to adopt and realize the benefits of Scrum. This includes Project Managers, Product Managers, and Executives. It is particularly suitable for IT practitioners such as software developers, development managers, and IT Scrum Masters....

One of the best courses for Agile Philosophy and Scrum mastery. I wish I had attended it before the 1.5 years I was participating in sprints in my former job on POC (proofs of concept) delivery.

I definitely recommend the Introduction to Agile Development and Scrum course imparted by John Profano. I've learned a great deal about how high-performance teams should work to achieve continuous improvements and be able to "Build what's needed it, and not necessarily what's planned" The Agile philosophy behind the efforts makes the difference. Get on board!!

I really enjoyed the course, I learned so many things that I did not know before about how things are done in Agile methodology and what Scrum is exactly. I compared everything with what we do in our company as Agile, and I noticed so many anti-patterns in what we do that encouraged me to talk with the management and put a plan to correct things step by step.

Great course. The teacher was really able to involve me in the course and help me to understand the philosophy, the methodology, the best tools and their application in the real-world. This is a course that I think should be mandatory for everyone that have to work in Agile projects and also who do not work in Agile projects, can benefit from it.

This is a very good and challenging course. I learned a lot from the labs about navigating Github and Zenhub to create a repository and user stories and following the project through the Kanban board. I also learned a lot about each persons role from the Product Owner, development team and how to conduct sprints. Looking forward to more courses.

Excellent course. Agile and Scrum concepts are thoroughly explained with examples. Hands-on labs are provided for all the Scrum processes. The optional final project is very interesting and tests all the skills taught in the course. I highly recommend especially for Software Engineers and teams that want to get started with Scrum right away.

I really enjoyed taking this course. The tutor was really lenient and explanatory. Not to talk of the hands on project which gave me the much needed practice. Let’s just say I’ve began utilizing the Agile and Scrum process to manage my personal projects, and it’s all thanks to this course. I would totally recommend this to someone else 😇

It was easy to pay attention and follow along because the information was explained clearly, and the practical exercises were updated so that the screenshots were actual and easy to follow. I would take more courses presented by the teacher.

I enjoyed this course. The pace was great and all the information clear. I aprecciate the fact that we laerned what to do and what to avoid doing. I'm not interested in Development right now but I got what I came here for: the foundations of the Agile Philosophy and the SCRUM Methodology.

I really enjoyed this course. The concepts were conveyed clearly, and the instructor was top notch! He made it feel like we were learning about these concepts in a college classroom. I also appreciated the opportunity to get an honors designation on my certificate.
