Monica Linden

Lecturer in Neuroscience

Bio

Monica Linden is a Lecturer in the Neuroscience Department at Brown University. She received S.B. degrees in Mathematics with Computer Science and Brain and Cognitive Sciences from MIT, and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience. After completing her graduate degree, Dr. Linden left academia to work as a Neuroscience Consultant with government clients including the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA). Her desire to teach undergraduates drew her back to MIT, where she was a Lecturer in Brain and Cognitive Sciences for two years before joining the faculty at Brown University in 2011.
At Brown, Dr. Linden teaches a variety of courses including Neural Systems, Neurobiology of Learning and Memory, and Exploring Neural Data. Dr. Linden is particularly interested in student learning and enjoys studying topics at the intersection of pedagogy, neuroscience, and reflective/mindfulness practices. Dr. Linden has received recognition for her teaching; she is a recipient of the Brown Undergraduate Council of Students Teaching and Advising Award and was awarded a Junior Faculty Teaching Fellowship at the Sheridan Center for Teaching and Learning at Brown.
