Weike Wang, got his Ph.D. in mathematics from Wuhan University, China. During the Ph. D. study, he had visited Renner University for one year as a joint-Ph.D. candidate. He became a full professor in the Department of Mathematics, Wuhan University from 1993 and served as the department chair and dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science from 1997 to 2000.

During the period 2002 to 2009, he was the chair of Department of Mathematics, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is now the Distinguished professor in Department of Mathematics, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and vice director of university academic committee, Faculty of Science. He has also served as a standing director of the Chinese Mathematical Society, the vice chairman of Shanghai Mathematical Society and the co-editor-in-chief of the SCI journal “Communications on Pure and Applied Analysis”.

He has been teaching the courses “Calculus?” and “Mathematic Analysis” for years and was awarded the most popular teacher of the university in 2008, the second prize of Shanghai Teaching Achievement Award in 2009 and University Distinguished Teacher of Shanghai in 2011. In 2012 and 2013, two of his Ph. D. students were honored with Award of Shanghai Excellent Doctorate Dissertation and in 2012 one was awarded the Nomination Award of National Excellent Doctorate Dissertation of China.

He has been investigating the theory of partial differential equation. He was interested in the linear theory and micro-local analysis. In the recent ten years, he turned to the investigation of the global existence and long time behavior of nonlinear evolution equations in multi-dimensional space. He was awarded the second prize of Science and Technology progress awards by National Ministry of Education for two times and the second prize of Science and Technology progress awards by Hubei Province for one time. In 2011, he was awarded the first prize of Shanghai Natural Science Award. He had visited Stanford University for one year during the period 1995-1996 and visited many universities and institutes as senior visiting scholar in Germany, France, USA and Hong Kong.
