Kees van Raad

Bio

Kees van Raad (1946) is Professor of International Tax Law at the Leiden University, Chairman of the International Tax Center Leiden and Director of the Master of Advanced Studies in International Tax Law. He is also of counsel to Loyens & Loeff, a Netherlands-based internationally operating (tax) law firm.
Since 2003 he is a member of the Supervisory Board of the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance.
Kees van Raad is a Deputy Judge in the Tax Chamber of a Court of Appeal in the Netherlands. He is active in the International Fiscal Association (past member of its Permanent Scientific Committee for 20 years, general reporter, chairing panels; currently: chairman of the Jury for the annual Mitchell B. Carroll Prize) and is a past Chairman (2006-2012) of the Executive Board of the European Association of Tax Law Professors.
In addition to his professorship in Leiden, Kees van Raad is a Permanent Visiting Professor at Peking University in Beijing, China, where he often teaches an annual Summer Course on international tax law.
Further, he has been a visiting professor at various foreign law and business schools: Georgetown University, USA (2011), New York University, USA (1992, 2002, 2004, 2006), University of Florida, USA (1982, 1997, 2003), Emory University, USA (1991), Universities of Stockholm and Uppsala, Sweden (1987), University of London, UK (1990), University of California (Hastings College of the Law), USA (1996, 2008), the Free University of Brussels (1997), University of Sydney, Australia (1998, 2005, 2010), Xiamen University, China (2004).
He speaks frequently at conferences and seminars and gives guest lectures at universities in most countries in Europe, Latin America, North America, the Far East, and in Australia and New Zealand.
